We survived the heat! ☀️👏
It was certainly a tough week in school, but we are so proud of how everyone has pulled together and kept going.
There’s still been so much fantastic learning and memorable experiences happening across the school:
• Our Winning Trust Athletics event brought great energy and teamwork.
• The last of Year 5 successfully completed their Bikeability training 🚴♀️
• Reception had a wonderful trip to Saltburn—including a train ride and time playing on the beach 🌊
• We were delighted to welcome the RNLI, who shared such important and engaging safety messages.
• Year 3 enjoyed Forest School sessions with Chris from TREK Outdoor Education, full of exploration and building on their science learning in school 🌿
Despite the heat, children across the school have continued to demonstrate their knowledge and commitment in all of their lessons—something we are incredibly proud of.
A huge well done to everyone—pupils and staff alike—for their resilience and positivity this week. Let’s hope for slightly cooler days ahead! 😊
See everyone tomorrow to do it all again!

We were delighted to welcome the Redcar RNLI into school this week to lead an important and engaging assembly for our children.
With the recent hot weather, it was a timely reminder of the dangers of open water and how quickly situations can change. The children learned about key risks, including cold water shock – even on hot days – and why it’s so important to stay safe when near water.
A key message shared was what to do if you ever find yourself in difficulty –“Float to Live” – helping children understand how to stay calm, control their breathing and keep themselves safe until help arrives.
They also learned how to help someone else safely using the simple steps: Phone, Float, Throw.
It was fantastic to see our pupils so engaged, asking thoughtful questions and developing their understanding of the incredible work the RNLI does as a lifesaving charity.
This assembly is a great example of our continued commitment to our Personal Development curriculum, ensuring children leave The Avenue not only with strong academic outcomes, but with the knowledge and life skills they need to stay safe and make responsible choices.
